Our Story

Over 25 years ago, Mr. Charlie Atsas followed his passion and put a few buckets of carnations outside his corner store in Bulli.

Charlie was an electrician by trade, but had a passion for plants and fresh flowers. He approached some local service stations, convenience stores and fruit shops selling $5 and $6 bunches on consignment servicing them 2-3 times a week.

For a few years he was selling his flowers to over 60 outlets from Austinmer to Shellharbour.

In the 90′s, Charlie and his family decided to relocate to a new premises in Bulli (our current location) – ‘Bulli Bunches’.

Years later, as the business continued to bloom and his 3 children were now all working with him on a full-time basis they decided to sell the ‘Flower Run’ and establish their second store in Wollongong (current location) in 2005.

Today, Charlie’s 3 children run 2 thriving florist shops in the Illawarra and are known as Illawarra’s leading florists stocking the largest variety of exotic cut blooms and potted plants.

Both the Bulli and Wollongong stores are now multi award-winning florists with 15 staff trading 7 days a week.

Both stores stock the Illawarra’s best variety of:

exotic blooms,
potted gifts,
candles and hand-painted votives
and a variety of giftware such as beautiful pots, soaps, gift bags and gorgeous soft toys.

We provide a delivery service 6 days a week and our wedding specialist, Maria Atsas (Floral Stylist) is also available by (free) appointment at our Bulli store.

We specialize in weddings and functions (both corporate and private).

Awards

Passion reaps unexpected rewards. For our talented florists, the cherry-on-top arrived while their sights were set, as usual, on creating breathtaking flower arrangements. Their artistic floristry work drew praise from the judges and resulted in numerous industry awards—among them, Most Outstanding Florist and Australian Championship Florist of the Year.

In the meantime—thanks to the resolute work ethic of our staff and the gracious loyalty of our customers—we also managed to become an awarded business. We’re more than a little humbled to have been declared national winner of the Australian Small Business Champion Awards.
